Pittsford firm Hamilton Stern Construction takes the top spot for 2016
Hamilton Stern Construction LLC has marked its meteoric climb by claiming the No. 1 position on the 2016 Rochester Chamber Top 100.
The Pittsford firm, founded in 2010 by Justin Hamilton and Christopher Stern, soared to the top of this year’s list of the area’s fastest-growing private companies.
It is the firm’s third year on the list; it had placed at No. 81 a year ago. Hamilton Stern, which employs 33 staffers, is a full-service construction manager and general contracting firm.
One of the main reasons behind its success is pretty basic: they show up. “It’s amazing. One of the questions we get asked, mostly on the residential side, is, ‘Are you actually going to show up tomorrow?’” Hamilton said.
Driving the firm’s growth has been an increase in larger projects, including renovating two historic buildings in Rochester for the Urban League of Rochester, N.Y. Inc., as well as expansion/renovation projects in Pittsford and Webster for Scott Miller Beauty Salon Inc.
Hamilton Stern is gearing up for projects that include work on DHD Ventures LLC’s mixed-use venture at the Terminal Building at 65 W. Broad St. downtown, as well as the new Clover Lanes, which is to be called Radio Social, in the North Winton Village neighborhood.
The co-owners, civil engineers, met as students at Rochester Institute of Technology.
